Random Acts of Kindness

Well, since I've gotten requests to update my blog like 8 months ago...lol. Just to leave you something to think about...the other day as I was entering my office building from the carpark, someone who came through the door from the other side held it open for me. And I think that really made my day.
Think about it, a random act of kindness. I think it can go really far. Imagine this, I'm at the receiving end of the act and there is this warm tingling feeling inside of me. What more if you are the one doing the act. Picture the other person's face. Wouldn't it leave you with a pleasant feeling yourself? So I'd say, go out today and do a random act of kindness to a stranger! Well, if you really have got no idea what to do, let me give you a list...
  1. Send someone a hand written note of thanks.
  2. Make a card at home and send it to a friend for no reason.
  3. Put some coins in someone else’s parking meter.
  4. Buy a coffee for your colleague
  5. Walk your friend’s dog.
  6. Give a compliment about your waiter / waitress to his / her manager.
  7. Send someone a small gift anonymously.
  8. Stop and help someone replace their flat tire.
  9. Let someone jump the queue at the bank.
  10. Pay for the drinks on the next table at a cafe.
  11. Treat a friend to the movies for no reason.
  12. Give a huge tip to someone when they least expect it.
  13. Hold the door open for someone.
  14. Give up your seat for someone, not just an elderly person.
  15. Write notes of appreciation at least once a week.
  16. Talk to a homeless person and have a “normal” conversation.
  17. Pick up some rubbish in the road which would otherwise be lying around.
  18. Compliment a work colleague for their excellence.
  19. Recommend a competitor to a potential client.
  20. Give another driver your parking spot.
  21. Give a piece of fruit to a delivery person.
  22. Help an elderly neighbour carry the rubbish out.
  23. Tell all your family members how much your appreciate them.
  24. Leave a copy of an interesting book on a train / bus.
  25. Buy an inspirational book for a friend.
  26. Send a thank you note to a person who has helped you in the past.
  27. Smile a lot.
Cheers!

Fasting

What's the point of me fasting? Am I fasting for the sake of showing others that I am following the 40 days fast and prayer? Or am I fasting because I really, really wanna see revival coming to Malaysia and sweep us all off our feet? Today, as I was just praying on the prayer items that is in the 40 days fast and prayer booklet, I asked myself this question. What is the point of me fasting? And once again I'm reminded that I fast and pray because I really believe that through prayer, God will move. God can change this nation. And anyway, true fasting is not about an outwardly appearance, it is about consecrating yourself to God. Am I doing that? Are you?

Believe

I say on Sunday how much I want revival
But then my Monday, I can't even find my Bible
Where's the power
The power of the cross in my life
I'm sick of playing the game of religion
I'm tired of losing my reason for living
Where's the power
The power of the cross in my life
I'm not content just to walk through my life
Giving into the lies
Walking in compromises now
We cry out as a generation that was lost
But now is found in the power of the cross
We believe in You
We believe in the power of Your Word and its truth
We believe in You
So we lay down our cause
That our cross might be found in You
I'm not satisfied doing it my own way
I'm not satisfied to do church and walk away
I'm not satisfied, there's no love in my life but You
I'm not satisfied living in yesterday's hour
I'm not satisfied to have the form, but not the power
I'm not satisfied, Oh Lord I am crucified in You
Do we want to be Christians like this? Someone who wants revival on Sunday but forgets where he/she puts his Bible on Monday? Let's not play this game of religion anymore. Let's not walk in compromise anymore. Let's lay down our cause for God. Let's not only desire revival but make it happen.

It Isn't Gonna Be Easy

When I was just waiting upon God the other day, He told me that doing my Masters degree is not going to be easy. But He will be there with me, to give me strength and the courage to go on. Yesterday what He said became all the more real when I went into my Research Methodology class. The lecturer was telling us that doing postgraduate studies, it is common that we get stuck while doing our researchs. He said that it is a test of your strength and character. I fully agree with him. But while he says that pushing us to the edge will make us depend on ourselves more and make us perform better, I beg to differ. Why, you ask? Because I have Christ Jesus. While others might struggle alone and learn how to depend on themselves more, I have God to depend on.
In times like those, I have full confidence that I can turn to Jesus and He'll be there for me. When the lecturer was describing what the process of doing Masters like, he said that it is the journey that is truly what you're after, it's the experience of doing the research that is the Masters, not some thesis at the end. You may write a really good thesis but you might not get anything out of the journey. I just felt like God was telling me He is going to break me and mold me again. Through this journey, He is going to build my character. And yes God, I trust that You will take me through it.

I'm Bored!

Ok, right now I'm sitting in an office somewhere in the Parliament Building. And I have so much free time that I can blog! =) And what are my colleagues around me doing? Watching a movie, youtube and goodness knows what...Hmmm...just goes to show how rajin we Malaysians are...Over and out!

Whee!

Hi all, right now, I'm kinda bumming (hence the personal message: Bummer's Inc. on my MSN...=)). Actually, what I wanted to say is that I'm really inspired by the pastors and full time workers that I had a meeting with just a while ago. It's really impressive what they are willing to do just to get children to be involved in prayer, etc. At first, I was having doubts whether or not to be in the planning committee for a children conference. But going for one of their meetings today, it really inspired me to press on and not give up on the children.
Yeah, I know sometimes it's hard to press on; especially when you lose sight of the vision. Another thing that inspired me today was when I worship led for Sunday school today, I got the children to just sit down and be still and to listen out for the voice of God. And guess what? A few of them actually heard from God! It's not at all surprising, but it is really inspirational. What God spoke to them may be something simple like "I love you", but it made a difference to the child's life. And when I was praying for them, what God told me was that He has given them each talents that they can use to serve Him. Who are we to underestimate the children if God look so highly upon them? So let us all believe that the children today are more than ready to fight the battle for God.

Random...

Well, now that I've completely finished off my last assignment and group project, I think it's safe to say that I've officially completed my course. Now that I've quite some free time, I have decided to start blogging more regularly again. =) Like the title of the post says, it's random! Actually, what I intended to blog about today was...
The things that I would like to do before I die:
  1. Bungee jumping!
  2. Visit every state in Malaysia
  3. Learn diving
  4. Open my own restaurant
  5. Get married and have kids
That's all I can think about right now...It's not much, but yeah, that's what I wanna do!

The End of the Road...

I remember the first day in university. I had an 8 o' clock class and we weren't sure where the venue was. I had to wake up at 7 am and get ready to go for the class. So off we went, me and two other friend. But it was really easy to find. And we ended up being really really early for class. Eugene was practically my tour guide around uni. He was bringing me here and there. Even accompanying me to a class or two.
Very soon, he introduced me to his bunch of friends who all became my really close group of friends. We went to class together (or try to as much as we could...some of us were studying different courses), ate together, watched movies together, went for roadtrips together and even played basketball together. Not to mention new-found housemates that cooked and swept the floor and clean the house for me.
Looking back, I think we have all gone quite far in the journey of life. Eventually, we didn't always hung out with each other and we were all busy with our own things. But yet, we do get together once in a while. I really thank God for this bunch of friends because I think my uni life would be really different if not for them. It is the closeness and support that we gave each other that was so sweet and memorable. Friends who cover up for you when you slip, friends who got your back and never betray you.
Yes, uni is a whole lot different from high school. No doubt, we were close to our friends in high school, but nothing beats the closeness that you get in uni. We see each other more than we see our parents save for the holidays. Look at us now, all grown up and ready to step out into the working world. Now, all those times we hung out together are just memories. Here is the end of this chapter of life and the beginning of the next. And to end this post, here's a picture for you to enjoy.

Warrior

He called me warrior. I am to fight the battle for Him. And no matter what happens in my life, He will not let me go. Never. So I am to hold on to His love for me.

Lightning Rod

Last Saturday was a life changing moment in my life. We set off to Ijok in the morning for the second phase of our spiritual mapping project. We were going into spiritual warfare then. As usual before going out on the field, we needed to prepare ourselves for battle. And we did that by first praising and worshiping the Lord. As we were praising God, I responded to God about serving Him in a small town wherever in Malaysia for 7 years. 7 years? Well, it all started when Yoshua, the person who envisioned the Malaysian Youth Prayer Gathering (MYPG) challenged us to give 7 years of our lives to God to serve Him in a small town. I wasn't there when he told the rest of my youth committee. But when I did hear about it, I was thinking to myself, "7 years?? That's a long time. I want to get married and have children!". Haha, it's true. I do wanna get married and have children.
But then I told God on Saturday, if He wants to send me to serve in a small town for 7 years, then I'll give my life to serve Him in a small town for 7 years. And I think all this is so timely, coz I'll be graduating in April next year, and I'm really clueless about what God wants me to do with my life. But after this Saturday, I'm pretty sure about what God wants me to do with my life. Anyway, that wasn't all I wanted to blog about. During our praise and worship session in the Ijok church, I saw a vision of lots of fire on the stage. And there were also angels there. This time, our weapon of defeating the enemy was to praise and worship God at the mouth of UNISEL and Bukit Kuching. Why those 2 places? UNISEL represents the youths of this generation while Bukit Kuching represents the majority race in our country.
As we were singing Hosanna (I See the King of Glory) towards the entrance of UNISEL while pretending to picnic, I suddenly saw a vision of smoke coming out of the entrance of the main gate. The smoke was as though it is hell, and it was parted in the center because there were a line of angels waiting to enter through the gate. I sensed that the angels did not go in because we didn't pray to send them in to UNISEL. Then after sharing this with the spiritual mapping team, Sue Ann also shared what she saw. As we were praising God, she saw this tornado starting out from the center of UNISEL and as we continued worshiping, the tornado grew bigger and bigger until it encompassed the whole campus. She also saw angels on chariots coming down from heaven into the campus. So after sharing both our visions with the team, we prayed to release the angels into UNISEL.
In Bukit Kuching, we stood by the side of a cross road facing Bukit Kuching and started singing. As we sang "Jesus We Enthrone You", I saw the throne of God coming down and settling over Bukit Kuching, then Sue Ann, being so excited came over and asked me what I saw. I told her and she said, "Me too, me too". Wow, we saw the same thing! Then she also shared that she saw lots of angels linking arms all along the side of the road making way for more angels to come.
Then as motorbikes pass by, the angels would hop behind the motorists and follow them home. Same goes for the trucks as well, as the trucks pass by, many angels would just hop into the trucks and follow them. Another girl from KBC also sensed a vision of a rainbow over Bukit Kuching when we finished worshiping. And Wai Yan confirmed the vision when she said that she saw a rainbow over the area. Sue Yin saw a banner with the name Jesus over Bukit Kuching as well and this time, the name Jesus is Emmanuel, which means God with us. I thank God for this experience because it's not something you see everyday. But the time is near, and if God calls us, we should go!

Reminiscence...

Wow, never did I thought that my the first day of my last semester in uni would arrive. But it did. Today's the day. I can't believe that in another 4 months' time I would already have finished my course of 4 years. The 4 years just went by in a flash. And what did I do today? I confusedly did my add drop, not being able to decide whether I should take this elective or that elective. And whether the electives that I choose will be too hard for me to cope. This is probably the last time in my life that I only have to fret about which subjects to choose. After this, life is gonna get much tougher.
Rushing to my first class, I reached about 20 minutes late and there was still no lecturer. Oh well, seeing that it's the first day of the semester, it's only natural that some lecturers don't enter the class. The best part was, we discovered the notice about the lecturer not entering class pasted on the door to another classroom in another building. Huh? After about 3 minutes, we decided to go over to another faculty for a talk by some major power company. And they couldn't get the projector started. So the guy resorted to having speak about his company to us without the visuals. After half an hour, off I went to my next class.
And if it wasn't enough, the next 2 lecturers were both long-winded. Arghh...How am I supposed to get through this sem? But I did get to have dinner in Upten with my friend before our Christmas play practice. So I guess I'm going all local for these few weeks. Till I get over my reminiscing mood that is. After the practice, it was off to my rented house to shower and try to rearrange my timetable. Took me quite awhile. Hehe. But finally I managed to arrange it in such a way that I'm satisfied. Yippee. Then off to our usual mamak session at the place we call "Sambal".
Boy will I miss that place and it's Indomee goreng after I leave. I guess when I leave this place, I will never forget the days of eating in Upten, playing basketball in uni, attending lectures and not to mention the accidents that I went through there. All this little details will remain in my memory forever.

Erm...Hello?

I know I've not been blogging like since forever. Many things happen throughout this close-to-2-months of me not blogging. The most recent incident being that my maternal grandfather passed away exactly a week ago. However, I have a wonderful testimony to share about how real God is. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago. But seeing that chemotherapy will only give him a 50% chance of survival, he decided not to undergo chemotherapy.
So all went well until he fell down one day. Then he started to experience a pain in his left leg. I could see that it causes him much pain because whenever it "attacks", he will just fall to the floor and writhe in pain. Not a very nice sight. Trust me. So he went to the doctor and the doctor gave him some painkillers for his pain. Unfortunately, it didn't work very well, so the doctor gave him some painkillers with a stronger dosage. But it didn't help either. After going for MRIs and all, they discovered that he actually had spurs on his spine.
One day, he heard a voice telling him to contact my aunt on my dad's side. So he did. And my aunt, who knew someone who has been through an operation like this before referred him to the doctor who did an operation on her colleague. He went for a consultation with the doctor and he decided that he wanted to go ahead with the operation. After the operation, he was healthy and well. He could get up and walk about. But after awhile, the pain came back again. Then he consulted the doctor again. The doctor discovered that the spurs were not completely removed. My grandfather had to undergo a second operation right at the same spot within a month. I really don't know, but I guess his body couldn't take all the stress of the operation what with his cancer and all.
After the second operation, his health just started deteriorating. We could see so much change in him everyday. It wasn't a change for the better, but it was a change for the worst. He went from being able to walk on his own two feet to walking with the assistance of a walking cane to being able to pull himself up to sit once in awhile to being bedridden. Towards the end, he couldn't even get up to pass motion anymore.
When he was bedridden, he started seeing spirits. He said that there were many spirits who asked him to follow them, but despite all that, he told them that he didn't want to follow them. Everyday, he would tell my grandmother and my mother that he sees this spirit or that spirit. Once in a while, I would be there to when he says that he sees the spirit. My mother would pray for him and read the Scriptures to him. His personal favourite was Psalm 91.
Sometimes you can see that he is so afraid of those spirits that he'll be shivering under the blanket. And so I told him, "Ah Kong, say that you are a child of God; and they will leave". So he would declare that he is a child of God, and the spirits would leave. Isn't it amazing that Jesus' name is so powerful? So as days went on, whenever we go and visit him, we would just pray with him and ask him to declare that he is a child of God. And all those spirits that he saw fled at the mention of Jesus' name. We also prayed for God's peace to be in his heart all the time that he's suffering. Even until the end, I could see how great his faith was in God.
Whenever he is in pain, he would cry out to Jesus, asking God for help. I was staying over on the Sunday before he passed away, and I was getting up every now and then to give him some water. The most astounding part was when he called out to Jesus to help him overcome the pain. I was very tired and already half-asleep. But when I heard him praying even in great distress, I was very, very encouraged.
Regrettably, I had to go back to uni already the following day. And I wasn't given the chance to talk to him after that Monday morning. My mom called me at about 6.30 pm on Tuesday, crying and telling me that my grandfather has already passed away. And so I rushed back, praying that I would be able to see him for the last time before he was taken away to be embalmed. Praise God, for I reached there with half an hour to spare. When I had time to talk to my grandmother, she shared with me that the night before my grandfather died, he told her that he can only see one person now. And so she asked, "Who"? And he said, "Jesus".
That really gave me comfort, because now we know that he is safe with Jesus and Jesus personally came to take him back home. During the funeral as well, I prayed that God will open the doors for the gospel to be shared, and true enough, when my church elder, who conducted the memorial service got to the pulpit, he was sharing the gospel of how Jesus Christ came to die for our sins. Later when I talked to my mom, she said that she was also praying for the same thing. Praise God!
During the service, my mom also saw a vision of a red fire with angels surrounding it. In the midst of the red fire, a blue sparkling light was shining. My mom interpreted the blue light as salvation. The vision that we had confirmed that my grandfather is now in Heaven. All glory to God because after my grandfather's death, things began to change in my family.
Previously, all my mom's siblings were doing their own things and they are not united as a family. But the love of God binded all her siblings together. But do we need to wait until something tragic happens before we are united as a family? I will end this post with my grandfather's favourite Psalm.
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust."

Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare

and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers,

and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

You will only observe with your eyes

and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you make the Most High your dwelling—

even the LORD, who is my refuge-

then no harm will befall you,

no disaster will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;

they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;

you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call upon me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him

and show him my salvation."

We Need to Pray Like Never Before...

Last Tuesday, I attended the launch of the 40 day fast & pray in SIBKL. And when the pastor came up to share on what we should pray for Malaysia, it really hit me. Here are some of the things that we should pray for:
  1. Pray for Jehovah Shalom to rule & reign over Malaysia. In other words, Malaysia needs the peace of God. (Judges 6:24)
  2. Pray against idolatry in the churches. That's right, in the churches itself. Not outside of the church. The churches need to come back to God first. (Judges 6:25)
  3. Pray for key leaders to rise up. The leaders should have these characteristics: strength, faith and unafraid of the truth.
  4. Pray for committed warriors to be enlisted. Characteristics: watchful, armed and resilient.
  5. Pray for the trumpet call to be sounded nationwide. The trumpet is to rally and unite God's people as well as to usher in the presence of God. (Zechariah 9:9)
  6. Pray for the torch to be revealed. The torch was initially hidden in a jar, so the jar has to be broken for the glory of God to shine through us. The jar being us, refers to the lifestyle that we lead.
So do pray, like you've never prayed before. The days are evil.

Shop, shop, shop!!!

Today's shopping day!!! I started my shopping journey heading towards Desa Seri Hartamas since I heard that Cat's Whiskers is on sale. And since Chyna Dolls is there too, I thought what the heck...Let's go!! Haha. So off I went to Hartamas. Tee-hee. Ada hasil jugak. I bought a dress from Chyna Dolls and a belt from Cat's Whiskers.
Then, I continued shopping in 1 Utama...Just couldn't resist...Haha, but it was fruitful too...I managed to buy a pair of jeans which I badly needed. Oh, I got a bit frustrated then. When I was trying on jeans in Dorothy Perkins, I realized that I'm 2 sizes bigger than before!!!I think I need to cut the mamak sessions.
After that, I went home to sleep for a while before having dinner with my family. Haha, since I'm in The Curve...I just walked around in the flea market there. And lo and behold, I found a handbag that is big enough for me to carry to class. Buy!! Well, that pretty much sums up my whole day. In total, I spent RM 218.60. Wow, I better save this week. P/S: Kimmy is pretty. Seriously. (Ok, this is just because she's sitting next to me right now! Hahaha...)

Nostalgia...

Officially, I finished my industrial training last Friday. However, due to my rajin-ness I was doing work non-stop for the engineers until I don't have time to finish my report. So there I am back at the office again to finish up my report. I'm almost done by the way. But going back to the office to do my report really makes me a little nostalgic. Being there and at the same time not being there makes me miss the place more. After all, I've been working in that office for a good 3 months. But today, one of the bosses actually belanja-ed me Japanese food in Eastin Hotel. Woow...nice!!Enough of nostalgia.
What I really wanted to blog about is how did BN retaliate against the victory of Pakatan Rakyat. And they do it in little, little ways that you cannot imagine is possible. Read this:
This is from the blog of Hannah Yeoh, DAP Selangor Assemblywoman for Subang Jaya
BN Ruins SMK Subang Utama Prefects' Reunion
Few months ago, I was invited to the Prefects' Reunion of SMK Subang Utama to be held next week. I just received news that I could no longer attend the function because I'm an assemblywoman from Pakatan Rakyat.
Two prefects have confirmed that the teachers have issued a threat to the prefects to withdraw their invitation to me and if not, the event would be cancelled.
I am upset with this. Let me explain to you why this threat by the teachers is so fundamentally wrong:
- This is a private function to be held outside the school
- Every past and present prefect is entitled to attend this event, not to mention
I was the Head Prefect for 1995/1996 and was one of the pioneers to start this yearly reunion for the prefects.
I am not a criminal or a bad role model. All I did was this, exercised my right to vote, and to stand for election, to stand up for my generation and to fight corruption.
As a young person, I am not afraid to stand up for righteous principles or of intimidation by the 'supposedly powerful' groups but today I am told that I am not a welcoming sight at a function which I championed and fought for many years ago.
In school, we were taught to be good role models and to be someone successful someday who will contribute positively back to the society. I have done just that. The very same people who taught me these values are now telling me that I am no longer accepted because I'm an assemblywoman from Pakatan Rakyat.
Blogging about this brings tears to my eyes. Why? This is such a sad state for our schools to be in, for our young generation to endure and succumb to irrational threats like this. For 50 years, we were told not to question, not to challenge and not to speak up – even if it infringes on our fundamental rights.
I am neither insisting to attend nor be a special guest at this function. I am telling you – students, graduates, working adults and parents that if you choose to remain silent and succumb to threats like this, there is little hope left for Malaysia. It could be your daughter/son who's in my place.
Remember the young ones are watching. Some are being brainwashed. Some are now confused – here you have a 29 year old assemblywoman who is speaking up against corruption for the sake of our nation and they are told that this person is not a welcoming figure and that she is not accepted at school or private functions.
I was a little exhausted prior to this because of work, complaints and issues but this has caused my heart to stir. It has sealed my heart for a cause. The cause is this – to continuously speak up against oppression in this nation.
My conscience tells me I am right before God, I have not acted unfairly towards others by stealing taxpayers' money and I am inspiring the young to stand up for what is right.
Our education system is trying to breed students who cannot think for themselves and to issue threats when everything else fails. I am the ex Head Prefect of my school and I am entitled to attend the reunion to meet up with my old fellow schoolmates, to catch up on old times and share some old jokes. I am now denied that right.
How many of you would stand alongside me for this cause?

Rasuah!!!

Can you believe how corrupted the police in this country can get? I went to the police station at Jalan Bandar today to pay my boss's saman. And when I reached the counter, I asked the lady if the saman can be reduced. And she said that I have to go to the branch in Seri Kembangan. Fine, so I called Alice who was driving me whether she wants to go to the branch in Seri Kembangan. And she said fine too. So I asked the lady at the counter where is the branch in Seri Kembangan. And she said that she's not sure.
Then she asked a policeman who was standing nearby where the branch was. And he was like, give it to me-lah, I can settle it for you. But you'll have to wait 2 days for the receipt. Then he started to explain that it will be inconvenient for me to run all over the place and that he'll settle for me for RM200. I started to doubt then..but I just gave him the money. Then he started to say that the saman's can be settled for only RM150 but the other RM50 will be for him. So I decided against it and went to the Seri Kembangan branch instead.
Over there the lady said I can't rayu here and I've to go to the one near Equine Park but she gave me the form to rayu. So I went over to the one in Equine Park and left the form there. The guy there said I've to come and collect it tomorrow and then go over to the police station in Puchong to pay the saman. I know I'm going through a lot of trouble, but I think we should all not submit to the norms of the society and just rasuah the policeman. We will never be able to curb the problem if we continue to encourage them by giving rasuah. So say NO to them!!
P/S: I'm so mad at them for doing this! Maybe coz it's my first time experiencing it...Sigh

An eventful day...

Wow, what a day I had!! I started out in the morning by going to Shah Alam with Alwin and Wykit to submit some drawings to the Suruhanjaya Komunikasi & Multimedia. Just as I was about to pay at the Batu Tiga toll, I didn't balance my clutch properly and my engine just died. So I tried to restart it. But the moment I turn the key in the ignition and there were no sound whatsoever...Uh-oh! I knew that my car battery was dead!
For the record, it was my brother's car, not mine. XD. The lady at the toll had to open the barrier and let me through. My two good friends had to push my car out of the way and the nearest place they could push was to in between two toll booths. So we nicely placed the car there and opened the bonnet to check what was the cause of it not being able to start while people were just passing us by and wondering what has happened to us.
Then after looking at the car for awhile and calling AAM, we decided to just push the car to the side of the road (we were at the third booth from the side of the road). Then since we were at the side of the road already, and there was enough space for us to push start the car...I told them to try it. And it works. So we had to call AAM again and tell them not to come. Wonder why I know how to push start a car? Well, thanks to my negligence (of not switching off the headlights), my car battery also died on Saturday. Hehe. Now that is another story altogether.
Now that the car's started, we went hunting for a place to buy a new battery. After rounding for awhile we finally found a place. But the battery cost me RM250. Damn that's expensive. And thanks to Alwin asking whether I had enough cash to pay or not, I totally forgot that I have a credit card. Which should be used in situations like this. But anyway, after our stint of pushing the car and looking for a place to get the battery, we decided to just stop by a mamak for breakfast. And there we are.

Oh, did I mention that we went for an exhibition after that in KLCC? That pretty much summed up my whole day. I snaked again! LOL!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today's my dad's birthday. Following our family tradition, birthdays call for a cake and a nice dinner somewhere. For the last 3 months, we've been going to The Ship for our family dinner. Dad decided that we should go somewhere else for a change. So off we went to Victoria Station.
Seeing that we've had so many bad experiences in Victoria Station before, I was a little apprehensive to have our dinner there. But the food turned out to be really good. It was very different from the previous times that we've been there. But then again, this is our first time eating at this branch. Ok, why am I ranting about the food when I should be talking about my dad?

Ooo, it's birthday cake time!!!
It's the compare likeness contest...Don't I look like Dad?
How bout my bro and Dad?

Nothing like a good family photo ending
*Ahem*

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,

The majesty of a tree,

The warmth of a summer sun,

The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting arm of night,

The wisdom of the ages,

The power of the eagle's flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience of eternity,

The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,

When there was nothing more to add,

He knew His masterpiece was complete,

And so,

He called it ... Dad

Salt & Light

This was an event organized by the Kepong Baptist Church youths (and twenties of course). I was told that it was some small gathering organized by them. But as soon as I arrived there, I got a shock! It's not "small"! But I really like the fact that the whole event was centered around the theme of being the salt and light in the places that you were called to be at.
They started with a little skit, where this two siblings (seen in the picture below) were arguing about which radio station they should be listening to. The sister likes listening to Light FM while the brother likes listening to Salt FM which plays "noisier" songs. Then the brother decides to call the radio station and ask them to combine both the radio stations to become one. Hence, the Salt & Light FM.

Then they had a little ice breaker called the "Human Bingo", where you're supposed to go around asking people who fit the description written on the paper to sign. The first three wins a prize!
Sara was one of the first three
Then it was time for praise and worship. One thing that I noticed about the youths there, they are so passionate about their own youth groups, feeling a sense of pride and belonging in their groups. This got me to wonder about the youths in my church. Youths, where are you all? Where's that sense of belonging and pride that you feel about our youth group? Are the youth leaders really that incapable to lead the youth group? Or are we not interesting enough? Not relevant enough?

Going for this event really got me thinking about all these questions. I know. I'm not that young either. But I am in the committee that is leading the youth group. Somehow I still feel that sense of responsibility about the youth group in my church. Maybe it's because I'm called to be one of the leaders of the youth group. But going for this event really opened my eyes to the potential that all the youths have if only they would come together and use the gifts that God has given them.
One of the things that they mentioned during the event was about the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. God has given each and everyone of us gifts and talents. And those who do not use the gifts and talents for the good of others are just being selfish. The consequence? Getting thrown out into the darkness. So I do pray that all of you out there use the gifts and talents that God has given you to serve in the places that you've been called to be. It is time for all of us to rise up and get out of our comfort zone to serve others. We cannot be serving ourselves any longer.
